The kitchen is fully equipped with a dining room table that seats 6 and a bar that seats an additional 2. the patio door open to the covered porch with a Commercial Char-Broil gas grill, patio furniture, and a HOT TUB with total privacy. The porch is right on the state maintained trout stream, Helton Creek. Just imagine grilling out and relaxing in the wonderful hot tub while listening to the creek sounds.

Helton Creekside Cottage

One of a kind best describes the “Helton Creekside Cottage”. This new one bedroom one bath cabin sits on the banks of the renowned Helton Creek. “Helton Creekside Cottage” is the perfect true mountain getaway. This cabin is perfect for the honeymooners or a small family wanting to trout fish and play in a cool mountain stream.

Our sofa doubles as an additional queen sleeper. The back deck has a covered tin roof to enjoy those cool mountain showers. In the open area of the deck, you will enjoy soaking in the hot tub complete with privacy screens. Our kitchen is small but well stocked. You will be able to handle any of your cooking needs. There is a convection oven/microwave, refrigerator, pots and pans, and all necessary items. You can dine inside at the two person table or choose to eat streamside on the back deck and take in the sights and sounds of Helton Creek. Helton Creekside Cottage is a pet friendly home allowing small pets. The deck is enclosed and also includes a doggy door.

If you are a fisherman or woman, Helton Creekside Cottage is one of a kind. During the winter, it is strictly catch and release. During the summer months, you can keep what you catch and put them on the grill on the back porch. Helton Creekside Cottage is close to the Grayson Highlands park system in Virginia. This park offers miles of hiking or biking trails. The world famous New River offers small mouth bass fishing as well as canoeing. For the skiing enthusiast, nearby Banner Elk and Beech Mountain offer all of the winter sports. Downtown West Jefferson is quickly becoming a destination for tourist visiting our many art galleries and restaurants. A good first stop would be the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce.

The Farm

An absolute charmer!! Experience the past at “The Farm.” This 200 plus year old home is crafted by the original owner with tongue and groove throughout. This remodeled farm has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with an updated kitchen with everything you need; sorry the old wood cook stove was removed.

One bathroom still has the original old timey deep porcelain tub, while the other has an oversize walk in shower. The water source is a mountain spring, which is gravity fed. Mountain Springs are said to have wonderful healing power and taste much better then the chlorinated water found in most cities.

The Farm is very peaceful and quiet which is a great escape from the hustle of everyday life. Relax on the large deck and listen to the creek as it flows. The Farm also has a fire pit down at the creek to enjoy roasting marshmallows with the family. You wont need a nature CD here to help you sleep, just open the windows to hear the tranquil Little Horse Creek.
